Who I used to be
For most of my teens and into my early-20’s I just didn’t feel ‘well’. I couldn’t pin point exactly what this feeling was but I knew it wasn’t right and I knew it needed to change. I’d been on the contraceptive pill for over 10 years, in a desperate bid to clear my acne-prone skin and I often felt emotional and out of balance. When I wasn’t on the pill my periods were irregular and usually painful. Working in a high-pressure sales environment led to feelings of anxiety and stress that were affecting my digestive system and giving me symptoms of IBS. I felt unhappy and unhealthy and had no idea how to fix it.
Who I am now
It was quite by accident that I stumbled across homeopathy. I really didn’t know much about it, but decided I had nothing to lose. I found the homeopathic consultation very refreshing, I was asked questions about my character, my family history and my symptoms. There was also a lot of emphasis on what may have been the cause of my health issues which I found fascinating. Homeopathy helped me detox from the various medications I had tried for my skin and hormones. It not only improved my physical symptoms but my emotional ones too, I felt calmer, more in control and less sensitive to negativity. I also found it easier to say ‘no’ and removed things from my life that no longer served me. I can honestly say that homeopathy has completely transformed my life. In fact, I was so impressed I decided to quit my corporate job to become a homeopath!
I was born in London and heritage-wise I’m a bit of a mongrel with English, Georgian, Croatian & Maltese blood (Zarb is a Maltese name in case you were wondering!). As a family we moved to rural Dorset when I was 10 years old. I called Dorset my home until I was 18 and left for Lancaster University to do an undergraduate degree in Theatre Studies. Despite my degree I decided against a career in theatre and moved back to London in search of work. After a stint in IT recruitment and sales management I felt I had finally found my true calling when I became a qualified homeopath in 2010. I studied at The College of Practical Homeopathy in North London on their full time course. Despite the 3 hour commute there and back it was one of the happiest periods of my life!
My life now
I recently moved from London to Frome, Somerset where I live with my husband and our two young daughters. When I’m not being a busy mummy, wife and homeopath I absolutely adore to cook. I’m particularly interested in in making delicious, healthy food which is free-from all the naughty stuff! I draw inspiration from other health food nuts such as the Hemsley sisters, Deliciously Ella and Anna Jones. I also love to read fiction on my Kindle, preferably alone and in a nice, quiet coffee shop. To keep fit, I do yoga and Zumba and I am known to walk absolutely everywhere. When I can, I love to go to the theatre. As an ex-theatre student I am very thankful that I no longer have to write an essay on it afterwards!
